Branding Puerto Rico’s Culture and Slang in a Unique Format

After entering a sock design contest in college, in an effort to further my creative skills, I was asked to collaborate with Puerto Rican brand Funky Socks & More. The company Funky Socks & More, which was already known for selling novelty socks and other accessories, reached out to create a brand that would represent Puerto Rico’s culture and slang in a new and unique format.

With a mission to bring back happiness and smiles after Hurricane María, they wanted to establish the first Hispanic novelty sock company created in Puerto Rico. A company that would offer a collection of novelty socks, featuring motifs celebrating Puerto Rico's culture, along with apparel and accessories for the global market.

The final collection features a total of 17 socks that expresses the essence of Puertorrican pop culture.

Socks

Here are a couple of my favorite designs that made the cut for their launch. Feel free to check out the full collection here.

Ties

As a part of my ongoing collaboration with the brand, I had the opportunity of reimagining some of the sock designs to create some fun and colorful ties.
